Las Pedroñeras is known as the 'Garlic Capital of Spain' and is famous for it's purple garlic which is championed by leading Spanish Chefs. It is protected by IGP (Indicación Geográfica Protegida) and evidence of the papery skins can be found along the Camino in this area.

Day 16 San Clemente to Las Pedroñeras

Template for a 'capirote' - pointed hat worn by penitents in the Semana Santa (Holy Week) processions. The height of the cap is important, the higher it is the closer to heaven. Each colour worn represents something different - red = blood/Passion of Christ, purple = penitence, black = mourning, green = new life/Easter Sunday.

Day 14 La Roda to Minaya

Football outside the beautiful Church of El Salvador de La Roda where we were given a guided tour by the Padre.

La Roda is famous for Miguelitos (Little Michaels) which are pastries, lighter than air with custard fillings.

Taxi travelled at 180kmph back to Junction 56 in La Gineta - sunrise over field of peas.

Day 13 La Gineta to La Roda

There was no accommodation in La Gineta so we took a taxi to our next planned stop in La Roda - we arranged for the taxi to return us the following morning so we would not miss any of the Camino. Hostal Amigos.

Finding plastic chairs in the road is what we like after a long walk.

La Gineta is famous for making chairs and tables.

And where you grow vegetables you find caterpillars of course.

We walked through fields of cabbages, peas & onions
